Definately a cool portfolio. The animations are very smooth. The animation in the Presentation of the photo's are a bit weird (the white flash). Mayb this is better with an other type of fade? (fade out & fade in, fade to black & fade from black, black instead of white blur)
Perhaps a button for Next and Previous Project/Shoots would be usefull as well. I kinda miss it...
Thing that bothers me the most is that it doesn't fit vertically in my screen (I use a 1280×800) res). That's even higher than the still very often used 1024×768 resolution. You should try to downsize it a bit vertically somehow, to improve usability.
Maybe you could add an "erase" button on contact, to let the user erase everything he/she has written in the "Message"-box. I don't know if this is usefull on this portfolio.
Besides that I think it's awesome. Black and white works fine. Keeps the focus on the content, makes the photographs jump out of the page. The font choice and web layout (except for the res ) are good. Simple, clean, it all works how it's supposed to be working. Nothing groundbreaking, but why change a winning concept eh
Thanks, you are the first one to really help me out on this man! I appreciate it.
There is a next/previous buttons for the pictures in each gallery but I thought it would be too much to put one for the galleries too. I always hated the way the pictures show up in the portfolio, very graphic heavy and doesn't work on older computers, I will play around with it.
I was always afraid of the site being too big but then my sister always bitches at me for it being too small and I had to please the customer; I will try to make it small enough for it to work on more resolutions.
Understandable, that "next gallery" isn't something crucial, but it might be handy... Although one could skip from one gallery to the other withouth noticing it. Think it's maybe best this way. The way you displayed the photo's (1 total, 1 close-up) is great, but it's just that transition with the white flash that realy bothers me after browsing through the galleries for a while... Maybe just another shade of grey or just black would do the trick.
I think you can easily make the site available for more resolutions. I can view the whole site in one screen withouth scrolling, but I had to scroll a bit down first. If you take out some of the white space (leave like 5 - 10 pixels white space) above the menu, it should do the trick. Resolutions are a pain in the ass imo, and at some point you just have to make a decision wich you and the client are comfi with. You got the advantage that it's a Flash-site and that you just have to scroll once, so it ain't that big of a deal anyways.
Whatever you decide, I think it's a very nice, clean and professional looking portfolio Is it your sister's portfolio? If it is, then you have a pretty sister
I will talk it over with my sister to see about those next/prev buttons.
I don't know when you last visited the website but the flash is GONE ! I was so happy to erase it. I will see what it looks like with a different colors but the main reason I deleted it was the slow performance on older PCs.
I will work on the resolution, I found a very simple trick to make all the pages smaller except for the portfolio page which needs work to be resized. Either way there will probably be a HTML version of this too for smaller res/ slower PCs.
Thanks a ton Exhale, and yes it is my sister's portfolio. She says thanks too!
